The Origin of the Clan of the Rohirrim
It was a time of the Clans
in the early years after the Great Exodus, and some of them were still forming.
After a few generations of genetic breeding when the Clans had all but
divided into their various factions and were spreading across space and claiming
their own worlds, an unknown Clan had begun to make it's presence felt across
Clan space. It was rumored that
they were the children of free-births,
a Clan whose origin had begun when a legendary MechWarrior General, a
member of Clan Hell's Horses, fiercely opposed the genetic breeding plan that
had been proposed. He was in love
with a high ranking MechWarrior female of his clan, and they wanted to marry and
have children as had been done in the Inner Sphere since the dawn of man. He rallied support from a vast majority
of his troops and they left the Clan in search of their own world.
They drew the name of their new Clan from a work of literature from Terra
that had been lost to time for so long that it was unclear weather it was a work of fiction or actually a part of Terran history.
Only bits and pieces of the story were
known. One of the key factions within this story was called the Kingdom of Rohan.
This was the inspiration for the members of the Clan of the
Rohirrim. They took the lore of
what was known of this story and made it their own tradition, and lived by the
code of the Kings and warriors of Rohan, the legendary kingdom in a time and place
called "Middle Earth". They had
forsaken the Clans and their breeding cycles and lived as heroic warriors who
defended justice, rather than look down upon others as being inferior. They had replaced the political strife
of the Inner Sphere with the fairness of Just Royalty in a Monarchy, and the cold
genetic breeding pools of the Clans with a love of Human Life.
They settled on a world and called it Rohan. They married and had
children and propagated the species. The BattleMechs they rode were referred to as
their steeds, and they rode them in great numbers, swarming the landscape of
whatever battles they engaged. They referred to themselves, MechWarriors mounted on
their Steeds, as The Rohirrim.
What mechs they took with
them were of an IS/Clan mix, some with Lostech alterations, some with the
beginnings of Clan innovations, and they took Clan and
Inner Sphere designs and altered them to fit their Clan.
One such alteration was of course, the Rohirrim…a 75 ton 'Mech similar in
look to the Timberwolf.
And this is what is known of the origins of the
